[Mk2] [NA] Exhaust....

Post by STUAW11 »

I've got a totally standard n/a rev5...the exhaust is on the way out...joint between the back box and cat have rusted badly, I'd like to keep the car as original as possible but toyota exhausts are expensive...was looking at the magnex system...don't want noisy...just a nice note....not sure whether to put a decat pipe in too...how will this effect the running?

Bear in mind a decat won't pass an MOT.

Custom isn't a bad way to go, the routing on an MR2 is pretty simple, brackets are simple. If it's a good custom place they'll be able to make it to your spec with regards to noise.

As for off the shelf options on an NA, the best balance you're likely to find is a Blueflame or Mongoose. Neither are *loud*, but both sound much better than standard and are well made. Both can also be used with a stock cat so you won't have an issue at MOT time.

I swopped mine for a mongoose, as Toyota wanted nearly a grand for theirs  looks pretty stock and sounds great not too loud at all.

Magnex are a nicer looking exhaust and quieter than the mongoose in my experience.
