GOOD GARAGE IN BERKSHIRE?

Post by RichardMorgan »

Hi, I know that its' not technical, but I was wondering if you can help me.
I have a MK1 that is in need of a bit of TLC.
I am restoring it slowly by myself as a project (I love the car!), but there are a few bits that I am unable to do myself.
Firstly, the windscreen needs taking out as the aperture is rusty and needs work. I have 'de-fillered' across the top of the windscreen but can't get behind the seal or aperture.
Secondly, the rear wings need JDG panels at the back (C section), and probably needs to be built up by fibreglass or something like that - gaping holes!
Lastly the drivers side front wing needs replacing or restoring - there is an area just in front of the front spoiler which has rusted away, meaning the support stem is holding on to nothing.
I have tried to contact a local garage, but they say it is out of their capabilities. They suggested contacting the club.
I am a member (hence knowing about the JDG panels from the magazine).
Can you suggest a Berkshire based repair garage, that I can get a quote from?
I tried 'Pimp my Ride' but they only accept applications from 18-25 year olds, and I am 30 next year!!!
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards

how much are you prepared to pay and how far will you travel? the best bodywork people around are in chertsey but they are not cheap and will not do a rush job.if you are serious about a restoration PM me for a phone number.

You could also try Millway in Andover (obviously depends which part of Berkshire you're in). I believe their bodywork stuff is supposed to be to a good standard although I can't speak for personal experience on that. I did use them once for some mechanical repairs to my mk1 and was pleased with their service.
