Repair panels

Post by MWallace »

Hi,
I need to cure some rot in the area behind the rear mudflaps on my car and was wondering which are the best repair panels to use: MR2DC, JDG Panels or Eurosport? I may also need to replace the NS arch :-(

Finally, can anyone recommend a good body repairer in Croydon or Crawley? Cheers.

Thanks Lauren,
One thing I'm concerned about is the accuracy of the panels in the sill return area (not sure yet if this area will need attention) because I've read about problems fitting the side skirts after replacing the arches.

BTW, the rotting car is my blue t-bar supercharger, not the nice burgundy one in the pictures, which is absolutely rust-free (the forum doesn't allow me to put two cars up). Don't let anyone tell you that supercharged MR2s don't rust!

Well mine were fine according to the body shop. I guess as they are handmade there might be some variance, though it they didn't fit you could just ask for another set, don't see a prob with that.

Oh i know SC's rust, we have a rusty SC shell out the back... its just a matter of time, seeing that most imports have been in the UK for a number of years now.

I ordered both sill return and rear lower quarter, very good fitment indeed, no problems with side skirts at all.

 I currently have a secondary air inlet for my boot mounted K&N air filter - the rust hole at the bottom of the rear quarter behing the mudflap

MWallace - Just thought I would say, love the pics of your SC - looks like an absolute hum-dinger!

About to send my SC up to your neck of the woods to its new owner at the weekend...

Thanks for the compliment, Wayne. I've owned the burgundy car for 9 years now, six of which it's been in storage in New Zealand - hence it's rust-free as they don't salt the roads there. I haven't yet gotten around to listing the mods, but it's had some tweaks in the suspension, brakes and engine which help to make it a pretty sweet ride. I'm thinking of shipping it over to the UK but one thing that's putting me off is the worry that it'll start rusting the minute it arrives...

My blue t-bar SC, on the other hand, isn't quite so immaculate, but it's not bad considering it's done three times the mileage. I just need to sort out this bit of rot and she'll be sound as a pound.

Once again, can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in or near Croydon, Crawley or Redhill?
