If you give it some love it'll come out better. :thumleft:

Some guys have sent them to be powder coated. But as they normally bead blast before coating some beads can get into the baffles. If you'd plan on doing that you'd need to drill the rivets of the baffles out then reinstall them after it had been powder coated.

I just decided to rattle can mine. With lots of care and attention it can look quite good.

I used rustoleum spray paint. it is very very good.

Err.. If prepped and used well it looks and lasts well.

I don't really have the facilities to use 2k.. and i prefer not to get lung cancer from its improper use..

Heat, Oil, Petrol fumes etc. are all extremely aggresive when it comes to 1k paint, it just cannot last in an engine bay environment.

Powder coating even though it is virtually untouchable when it comes to the above chemicals tends to change colour with heat.

The only thing that really works...and i've been there and done that....is a well prepped (what you said!) and well sprayed 2k coating.

Yeah i do get you and preffered is a 2k job. But it would need to be done by a professional and therefor add extra costs.

Yes you're right it costs a tad more. My advice is find the local paint shop, talk to the boss, show waht you need painting and ask if he can spray it over the next time he's doing something in that colour. It worked for my cross brace! Paid a crate of beer and all was good :-)

Just get it powdercoated. Less hasstle and will cost you probably the same. Depending what colour you want, it might be painted with a spray gun anyway. Just make sure its masked up properly and you dont have to go through all the nonsense about drilling baffles out etc when its getting blasted.

I done mines this way last year and it still looks the same and has not killed my engine
