Help! Tyre fitment on wide wheels!

Post by as8133 »

Hi guys,

i need some help getting tyres to fit the wheels that i have going on the car. The wheel spec is as follows:

Front:

8.5J, 18", +20 offset, 114.3.

Rear

9.5J, 18", +20 offset, 114.3.

I am about to buy a full set of staggered Yoko A08R's for the Rev5 but i have no idea what tyre sizes go with these wheels sizes!

Is anyone running the same? what tyres?

Thanks!!!

There are a few useful tyre width to wheel width pages online.

If you cut or role the rears theres loads of space for big Tyre widths .. the front not so much , with 17's you'd need 215/40/17 and a bit of roling to fit .. on 18's 35 profile would be needed and some roling/ pulling of the arches .

Front will be a problem 8-[

My rears were 9jj 245/35/17 cut arches 26 offset iirr .. lots of space .. fronts were on the limit 8jj 215/40/17 35 offset .

Thanks for the replies!

Ive had them on an mr2 before, even with 10mm spacers on and 40mm lowering springs, so i know that they will go on (just).

Hoping that i can get tyres that will perform as well as look good!

Hey,

So for the sake of completion, I have had the tyres and wheels test fitted on the car. The rears will take a 255/35/18, but so the tyre stretch mathes the front I've decided to go 245/35/18. The front will be 225/35/18.

Not the most economical tyre sizes as most of the semi slick type tyres like the AD08Rs don't actually come in these sizes. And r888 are insanely pricey. So gone for high quality continentals. Pics follow later...

I got
et25 9jj 245 35 17 front
et12 10jj 285 30 18 rear.

But i do have widen arches which was been cut and extended with flares.

I have other wheels in case i want a different stance for track use

215 40 17 front et35
245 40 18 rear et12

Both look good but to be honest i think et35-30 17" all round with 215front and 245-235rear all these acrhes and off set cause cracks and acrhes to go funny over time... unless if u just like looks and not driving hard track day
