[Mk2] [Turbo] Power folding mirrors without correct door looms?

Post by outrun »

Has anyone added the additional wires needed to run PFM's using standard turbo door looms?
I have plugged in the relay behind the dash, so that is OK, but the PFM loom has 7 wires, compared to the standard types 3 wires, as well as a different plug.

I don't really want to strip the door looms out of my car and find some power folding ones to replace them, if I can just patch in the additional wires.

Anyone done this?

Cool. Any wiring guides out there, or do you remember what went where?
I'm incapacitated atm and would be nice to know what I need to do, before I next look at the car.

It's all here: http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2-know ... bartid=223

I followed that.. and then added my own circuitry to fold / unfold the mirrors with the door locks :thumleft:

I did the same as Chris and Mark using JohnnyC's excellent guide shown on the link. All it requires you to do is run 4 extra wires to each mirror through the 'A' pillars and into the doors and a switch feed.

The only drawback is that the n/s mirror closes at a slightly slower rate than the o/s.
