Love of my life!

Post by largie009 »

As some of you may know, i have always wanted a set of Advan SA3r's!!
fortunately for me, i managed to pick some up for a good price the day! They do need a refurbishment though (flaking and bubbling) and they need a colour change anyway as they are plain silver. They are 16x7 all round (hoping to keep the stagger via tyre sizes)
i was wondering if anyone out there with the same wheels would post up picks of fitment and tyre sizes. I have a 40mm drop and don't want them to rub!
Ps. Believe the offset is +35.

Thanks guys! :)

Excellent! What tyre profile would be best?? Want 205 front and 225 rear! Would 50 be too much? 45 better??

I currently have 16x7 (205/45) and 16x8 (225/45) with 35offsets.
I wouldnt go 50, 45 is plenty! :thumleft:

I've gone for a 50 profile on my 300ZX 16" wheels. 45 is better for speedo accuracy, but 50 for a nice smooth ride.

Here is a pic of an MR2 with 16s and 205/50 and 225/50:

I personally love 16s with the chunky 50 profile tyres, and is what I've gone for.

The 50 profile tyres do look good and will give you a nice smooth ride, but if you like going round corners fast then be aware that the sidewall will flex more compared to 45's

How did you get them home mate? Did you utilise the passenger seat out method?!

You might not need to take the seat out.

I have had a set of 15s in the car with a 50 profile tyre (or maybe 55)- 3 in the front and one in the frunk/spare wheel space.

It'll be a squeeze for sure. I took one of the t-panels off to fiddle around with the wheels whilst closing the door. Then put the panel back after I did that. Expect to mess your dash so a bed sheet or similar is advisable (as I did) also reduced the amount of the dirt left in the car.

These cars handle better with more sidewall, also allows you a bit more of a handle on going from grip to slip.

When driving down a bumpy b road i'd rather have the slight extra damping the larger sidewall provides than having that sharper initial response on turnin.

Youd be better off sorting that with thicker arbs and front end bracing tbh.

A friend was nice enough to take me in his 307!:P. (the guy who was with me at cheddar if you remember). So that made things nice and easy, i didnt fancy going all the way to Maidstone....on the motorway.......in a bucket seat.....with harnesses......with a loud exhaust....on my own....with low mpg!:P. much preferred the 307's comfort and mpg! And the stereo isnt as xxxx as mine!:P

my concern about profile was that the 50's would rub, my 205/50/15 that i have atm are about a finger width away. (of course everything is going to increase proportionally so shouldn't make a difference)
i like the meaty look of the 50's but in not a man that cares much for comfort in a RWD sports car :P
what about 50 on the back and 45 on the front??? Or have i just made a stupid suggestion and should punch myself in the face!?:P

I've gone the other way, 225/45 rear 205/50 front.

Although if you feel like punching yourself in the face don't let me put you off

Of course 50 is more comfy than 45 but 45 are more than comfy, i actually think 45 have too much sidewall flex nevermind 50!
But do as you please, i have a fingers width space with a 35mm drop and 45 profiles so expect it to be very close to rubbing
