Some crazy priced NA's around at the moment...

Post by SonicSW20 »

I'm looking around for replacement MR2. Some of the NA's I've come across are ludicrously priced! For example:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-MR2-2- ... 2341ee2517

Best part of £5k?

On a less ludicrous note, this has popped up on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-TOYOTA-M ... 23420bb5c3

Rare colour as I understand it!

I wouldn't say that was ludicrously priced. Most MK2s are rusted to hell, and finding a minter is becoming harder and harder. That MR2 in the link is completely original, 84K miles in 19 years, and 1 owner with full history from new. It looks like a brand new car!

£5k for a rev3/4 NA? What part of that isn't ludicrous?

I think it is, when you consider £5k gets you a near perfect Rev3 Turbo of a similar mileage!

Depends what you want really. Buy a minter for a top price or buy a dog for £500 and end up spending the difference putting it right.

It will be interesting to see what it ends up going for. I'm not sure on the colour myself, though to be fair I dont think the pictures in that ad are very good.

Oh didnt notice it was an auction, just saw the price and assumed it was buy it now. Still if the shell is a minter and its only got 34k on the clock it should be worth a fair bit.

Just a shame its not a tintop and a tubby

I think a 5k NA would need to be a BEAMS really!

I agree to some extent that £5K for a rev3/4 NA is a fair amount, but the things it has going for it:

- 1 owner from new in 1995
- Full history/MOTs etc
- all keys
- looks like a new car
- original
- mint interior, look at the drivers seat, no bolster wear
- 84,000 miles in 19 years

Opinions on the car/price will always differ, and ultimately, it's the seller's prerogative as to what he prices the car at. Don't like the price, don't buy it etc.

That still looks mint though, I bet you wont find any ropey mr2s in germany. You cant realy compare german prices to the uk tbh.

I'm looking at anything really, though realistically a tidy NA is probably going to be the best bet. I would love a V6 or a turbo, but with my budget I would be at the lower end of the market for those.

Not seen that one.

http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/used-c ... p-15816419

Another very strong price... It looks clean and all, but it's a 130k NA with cloth interior at £3500.

These examples were quite useful when getting my insurance valuation increased though

I strongly predict values of mr2 shooting up in the next 2 years. At the age now where only looked after ones are still going, and getting rarer by the day. Unmolested rev 3 turbos going for 6k I think will be average and not a tough sell.

Yellow will be the next big car colour.
