Bolt for seat belt buckle clip?

Post by msherry21 »

Hi all, I'm trying to attach my seat belt clip(part with the red release button) back onto my seat. Previously it was attached to the centre tunnel!

The bolt which is the correct size for the seat belt clip is too big for the hole in the seat itself.
Did these bolts come in different sizes? Or have my seats been messed with? (They look completely standard).

Cheers, Michael.

Setbelts

As far as i know, Volvo invented and patented the car seatbelt but kindly let all manufacturers use this device in the name of safety. When this testing took place many years ago UNF threads were used in the automotive industry and this still remains the case today regarding seat belts …..why, well UNF threads were used and approved, to retest seatbelt anchorages etc using different threads would be so costly that UNF still remains today.
Size is 7/16's UNF.

I think mine connects to the center column too, nothing to worry about :thumleft:

The studding/bolt on the tunnel isnt designed to withstand any load.

If yours or anyones is mounted there I'd strongly reccomend mounting your selt belt buckle in the correct location or mounting it with a spreader/mounting plate and drilling through the floor if using bucket seats.

Michael, if you get stuck pm me and ill stick two correct bolts in the post for you

David, that's really kind of you...but I think the bolts are correct, it's the mounting hole in the actual seat that is too small for them.

Well done guys, thanks.
That does seem to be the answer....now I just need to see where I can get a pair, probably cheaper buying another set of seats!
