Tein EDFC Motor Removal

Post by Santos91 »

Can anyone give any advice or instruction on how to remove the EDFC motors from the top of my type flex coilovers?

The garage that removed my coilovers for me, also removed the front 2 EDFC motors but for some reason left the rear 2 still attached. I was wondering if anyone has removed the motors and can give any guidance as the instruction manual TEIN supplied me only tells you how to fit them. I do not want to damage them as i will be looking to sell them on.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

They're threaded, right? So just unscrew them!

yeah i thought that, but since they have been on the car for so long, the whole motor and coil turns as one. there is a nut which is under the the motor but cant get a tool in to it as the top mount is in the way.

I was just wondering if there was any specific way or trick to getting them off.

Have removed mine 2 weeks ago.

Also unbolted with 1 set still attached. Don't know if they are also the rear set.
If so, it's because 1 set could be removed from the car with the EDFC still attached and the other one not.

Anyhow: just use 2 water pump plier or some adjustable spanners and place 1 around something of the coilover that keeps turning (the groovy disc is what I just to clamp) and 1 on the EDFC rotor (gently).

And just turn.
