[Mk2] [Turbo] Which Wossner low comp pistons?

Post by Adam W »

Wossner list two different part numbers for 8.0:1 pistons for the 3sgte. 9055 which has a different combustion chamber volume to 9036. The 9055 piston has a deeper dish, so I don't see how they can both have the same comp ratio? Any expert advice much appreciated! (I am trying to build the most reliable 350bhp engine I can for track use, aiming for a small turbo with high boost to make decent power with good throttle response.)

Surely a small turbo with high boost will generate higher charge temperatures than a big turbo with small boost.

In turn the big turbo with small boost will help reliability. also for 350bhp I dont think its necessary to run low comp. Definitely go forged but pretty sure you can stick with standard cr ratio

Standard comp it too high for stock boost as we do not have the octane fuel here that the engine was designed to run on

9055 is the one to use, still tying to find the 9036

Also the size of the turbo has nothing to do with the boost you need to get the power you want.
It is revs that change the boost needed for a given power, more revs less boost
