checking the ecu isn't tricky, and I'm afraid you do need some special equipment.

A paper clip.

This needs putting into the diagnostics port in the engine bay, but which ports I can't remember, sorry.

Resetting the ecu is no probs, fill up with juice and stop on a lay by on a dual carriage way or something.

open the hood and lid, pull out all the fuses that say EFI or ECU, think there's 2/3 in the front and 1 or 2 in the back.

Leave them for a mo, plug back in, start her up and give it some stick.

That should fix it.

But I think you should do the error code check first so you know what was making the problem in the first place, as it may just happen again.
