[Mk2] [Generic] Gas strut for engine lid

Post by Greenmeanie »

Hi looking to replace my Mk2 turbo engine lid prop with a gas strut. Can anybody recommend one which works/fits the best?

Silly think won't let me post urls, but do a search on IMOC for "WS engine lid lifter kit mod" and Paul Woods.

Yes, it's on a Mk1, but I've ordered a pair to see if they'll do the on on a Mk2. Looks the cheapest way to do it, by quite a way.

I went for 120nm, as per what Paul said, but I suspect that that'll be more than what's needed.

Still have to fit them!

Let me know how and when you fit them as I bought the same when I saw the post and mine is going on my rev 2 turbo.

Dunno if that's to me, but mine (2 of them) are designed for furniture! See Paul Woods' post on MR2OC (link above). Due to the side covers on the Mk2 it's necessary to make up a support from the strut tower -- Mk1 fitting looks a lot easier.
