[Mk2] [Turbo] Knocking noise

Post by markstevieandmads »

I noticed a knocking noise yesterday while sat in start/stop traffic getting into japfest.

It seems to be coming from the passenger front wheel. When I press my brake it seems to go away too.
I could only hear it while crawling along. As soon as I got up to about 15-20mph it disappears.

When the weather clears up I will get the wheel off to have a look but does anyone have any ideas in the meantime?

BTW - The knocking coincides with the wheel rotation.

Sounds like it could be a loose wheel!

Failing that, look at brakes and wheel bearings.

There's not really anything on the front that rotates with the wheel... I.e. no driveshafts to be knocking.

Cooperturbo gets the point!

Had a quick check and 3 of the wheel bolts were hanging out and real loose!
Tightened and all OK.
