mr2 mk2 fcd issues

Post by neilchan1981 »

Hi can anyone please help. I have a problem with an hks fuel cut defender. when it is wired in The stock boost gauge will rise o maximum with ignition on and engine not running this never happened before. It has only happened since I have developed a misfire under load. If I disconnect fcd stock boost gauge is normal but still have a misfire under load any ideas?

Misfire under load is normally ignition related.

So disconnect FCD, and sort misfire first.

I assume you know when you last replaced the service components, i.e. plugs, cap and arm? If not, or there is any doubt, get them replaced.

Also, leads and coil degrade as they age.

Ok thanx I was told that the plugs and dizzy was replaced shortly before I bought the which was not even a month ago but not shore about rotor arm will get that replaced. I disconnected fcd today and also bypassed manual boost controler but still getting same issues. Although today it was like i got fuel cut ecu light came on and had no power at all it was like hitting a wall. Have also tested map sensor. Im getting a 2.5v signal and it drops to about 1.3 under about 1bar vacuum. Is this norma?l. Also do u have any ideas why the stock boost gauge would rise to maximum with ignition on with fcd fitted? Thanx any help will be massivly appreciated.

Re checked map sensor put about 10psi through it and got 4.3 volts so its all good was just dodgy connections. soldered them and problem solved
