Tyre size

Post by alex_evo »

Hey guys

I have mk3 alloys atm 6" up front and 6.5" at the rear, i would like 195/50 tires all round, will that be fine on the wheels i have ?

As in the tire will stretch at back and balloon abit up front will this be ok ?

since stock mk3's uses 185's (front)and 205's (rears)

thanks

Shouldn't be an issue, if I remember correctly my OZs are 6.5 front and rear and have 195s on them.

ic ic, just wondering since i have different width front/rear. Not sure if the 0.5" will make the difference to the tire since stock mk3 uses 185 (fr) 205(r)

It will be fine. 6" is a little narrow for a 195, but it's not out of spec so will be fine.

You really won't see any stretch on the rears, not on a 6.5" rim!

7" is the ideal width really for a 195.

You'll be fine with MK3 wheels and 195 x 50 tires, I've been running that combination for years with no problems 8)

I used to have 195s on my Yaris T-Sport alloys which were 5.5. A bit balloony but no probs on the track. Uber light weight too.

Advan Neova 195/50/15s seem very heavy to me Chris (about 7KG)

The wheels themselves without tyres were about 5kg each, I ran them with Toyo T1-Rs. Never tried Advans.
