[Mk2] [Turbo] Knocking noise near side rear

Post by mr2_ash »

Hi all.

Wondering if anyone could shed a little light on a knocking noise that's driving me insane!

Every time I drive over a bumpy surface it makes what I can only describe as a 'boomy' knocking noise - but I can't figure out where it's coming from!

Peter from sbits very kindly replaced my oem struts/top mounts with hsd coilovers and drop links so I know it can't be these - rear anti roll bar bushes also in good condition with no broken brackets etc.

Also gave my exhaust a good wiggle and that's not catching anything either.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Ash

Could it be the bottom ball joint? Jack the rear up and use a pry bar to look for any slackness

I have a similar issue with nearside rear corner. I think I have narrowed it down to the bushes on the tie arm from hub to crossmember if that helps?

Dodgy shock, fecked top mount, fecked ball joint.

Get the car in the air and jiggle the wheel, see if you can find some play

I'd say ball joint.. get it up in the air and wiggle like you've never wiggled before..

I've bought some cheapy ball joints before they were bu88ered in about a month. :?
