[Mk2] [Turbo] Starter motor amp draw?

Post by killerferret666 »

What it says on the tin, unfortunately the standard mr2 is just too short, so want to make sure the cable can handle the required amps that I replace it with.

I'll confirm tomorrow. With my new £200 Snap-On clamp-on current measuring attachment for my scope. 8)

Had a play at lunchtime - Noble draws 380A.

If I was building a kit car id be running all the major lives and earths in 0 gauge wire, it's normally cheap enough if bought as welding cable

That would be complete overkill and alot of weight added as well as undoing already made connections. Remember a kit car has very few circuits and draw, no flashy electric devices or PAS.

what I'm doing is;

taking the front fusebox and keeping the line of 40/50/120amp fuses and their feed wires.

This way the rear ECU / fusebox keeps exactly the same Live wires feeding it meaning no messing with connections, relays etc...

All I will need to do is wire up the first relay to the igintion and starter to starter ignition position this will then make live;

Fuel pump
coil
ECU
Alternator
required sensors

Meaning the engine should run....he says :D

All other circuits, lights, dash, horn, wiper and indicators and hazards ill wire from scratch as they are easy enough to do.

The Earths to be fair on the mr2 must be about Gauge 10 wire anyway so good size earths.
