The bottom line of the data plate on the front panel of my front boot reads :
8G2LB21-642052
I think my paint code is 8G2 (Ice Blue Mica)
Is that correct?
If so, what do the other characters stand for please?

I bought a can of 8G2 spray paint from my local Mr T dealer a while ago
It appears to be genuine Toyota paint judging from the label
It does not match the paint on my car very well at all
Am wondering what is best to do about that now

It doesn't match because there's a huge difference between professional automotive paints and their application and a guy at home lashing an aerosol on....
There is only one proper way to put paint on a car and expect it to match, even then it's not a given. Very few aerosols ever match.
If you want to DIY and get good results invest in a small compressor and spray gun, and learn to do it properly, it will pay you back tenfold throughout your life.

Leather would simply have been an option which quite possibly was fitted portside. Other aspects of the VIN plate will detail transmission whether auto or manual and any factory options like LSD for example.
A lot of other stuff is fitted/changed after leaving the factory so this doesn't appear in the VIN plate code.
