[Mk2] [Turbo] Strange issue with power

Post by samgpr50 »

So I have a strange issue with the car. The headunit will turn on with the ignition but when the ignition is turned off the audio and 12v socket will stay live until the door is opened. Should it be doing this?

Many cars are like this from new now. Friends 53 punto is and my 04 vette is too.

I would imagine its a customisation possibly linked to aftermarket alarm immob system or just previous owner fettling.

Check you aren't experiencing big battery drain. If not, happy days.

Ahhh I have never seen it before. No power drain but would love to turn it back to how it was. Had the car for over a month and only just got round to asking so not that much of an issue. The only time it becomes a problem is when using the turbo timer built into the alarm as after the car shuts off the audio stays on. Thanks for the reply.

But if you get out the car, audio stops, no? Or does it remain on because engine is running? If so just manually turn off the head unit?

Shinny on this forum is a wiring guru and will know where in your looms to look for the modification I suspect.

Why thank you

As it happens my rev3 turbo does exactly this... I'm pretty sure it's linked to my Cifford alarm but as I didn't install it I can't comment further off the top of my head.
