Newbie adding a Cosmos Blue Rev 5 to the fleet - pics included

Post by Marc_P »

Hi Guys,

Thought I would introduce myself on here after picking up my new MR2 last week. I have wanted an MR2 for a few years but never got round to actually getting one, until now.

After a lot of searching and test driving all different specs and models, I surprisingly decided against the turbo and decided that it had to be a Rev 5 N/A, after further searching I found the one, completely standard, rust free bar a bubble on the bottom of the door that is getting fixed shortly and in my favourite colour, the car sits among my current fleet nicely as all the others are front engined.

Here are the pics after I gave it the Swissvax treatment:

And my fleet that the car will be accompanying:

'99 Supra Aerotop 6-Speed Single Turbo

'89 Porsche 944 S2

'69 Mustang Mach 1

Anyway, I hope to be of use on the forum, although I am compiling a list of things I need to find out that I'll be flooding the forum with in due course :)

The MR2 will stay fairly standard, a few breathing mods and possibly uprated suspension and brakes are all that's going to be done as I love the way it drives on the 15s, I have no desire to change the wheels, I might space them out 15mm though. The bodywork and interior will stay completely standard aswell.

Thanks

Marc

Welcome to the club and MR2 ownership, its new to me too but so far so good.

Good looking car you've got there.

Only 24? is that a typo lol? You must be paying out a fortune insuring the fleet.

Gorgeous supra and stang btw. Love Supras, hopefully get to owning one eventually :thumleft:

Any mini-meets coming up?

Also interesting that you have Houston TX as a location aswell as I spend a fair bit of time in Austin TX and go to Houston every year for TX2K :).

Thanks, had Supra's for about 5 years now, started with an N/A and have had 4 since then.

Surprisingly not to bad on insurance for any of the cars, Mustang and 944 are classic car insurance and pay £132 FC and £220 FC respectively and the Supra is around £1200 on an agreed value £35k(not insured and sat on axle stands at the moment though, having everything poly bushed), think the MR2 is around £600 FC.

I have always been lucky with my cars and living in the middle of nowhere certainly helps with insurance.

Awesome collection you have there!

A standard n/a rev 5 is exactly what I'm looking for not sure how well I will do on a budget of 1500 to 2000 though.

Yours look mint, I haven't seen any in that colour, very nice indeed.
