My Ultimate Green SW20, Xmas Gift from my Girlfriend :)

Post by Alan_d »

I used to be a member here back in about 2006, when I had a UK NA
Sadly it got written off when a coal lorry shed its load in front of the car.

Fast forward to 2013, and I still have a Toyota as my daily, albeit a Corolla, and this RX8 as my show car

Image

Its extensively modified, and has set me back over 20k to build. I take it to shows over here in Northern Ireland with my girlfriend Emma, who enjoys showing it as much as I do.

When I met Emma, I used to pass a repair shop/restorers in a local village, who used to specialise in MR2s. He had a bright green one which caught my eye every time I passed, and I frequently stopped to admire it, but wrote off the idea of ownership due to having 2 cars already.

I used to comment to Emma how much I admired it, and often joked on important dates like Birthdays etc that the car was still there at the shop.
Emma knew the score with my old MR2, and knew I still held a flame for them.
Then one day she rang me and told me I needed insurance for a registration. I knew the reg right away, and couldnt believe what she had done.
She had saved her money up (we're saving for a house together) and bought me it for xmas!!! Im still taken aback by her kindness :)

The car is pretty much fully restored, and only needs some trims like a door weather seal, and maybe one or two contact points to be bang tidy.
I hope to get it sitting just right over winter, so Emma can drive it to shows with me next summer :)
I look forward to contributing to the community here, some great reading to be had!

Here it was in the garage that painted it, you can see a little pearl in it

hope it doesnt ruin your vision!

Thanks Pistol Pete, I had my original posts written up with pics, however I havn't passed the post count to allow them, so I had to ammend it somewhat :)

Im watching the forum to see if I can make positive contribution rather than spam my way there, but hopefully that wont take me long

Thanks :) Ill put up a thread for the 8, theres quite a bit of build in it, its originally a silver 192bhp, but its now got a full build, billet rotors, 3mm tips etc. I plastidip cars as a hobby (applied by proper compressor rather than rattle cans or electric HVLP), so decided to put my own under the gun. Its metalflaked too :)
I was proud to get a Banzai feature for it earlier this year, im not sure if any of you saw it in there? This months Banzai has an sw20 on the front, incentive if ever I saw it lol!

looks like a good spray job, quite a nice colour too, it gets boring seeing the same old red, black, white and blue :thumleft:

Wee john says you found out theres only one wire different to convert to tubby? Its hard to beat the drive of the mr2, its so primal compared to the 8!
