Price of top mounts!!!!!

Post by IanClements »

Just been quoted £99.63 +VAT for a top mount at Toyota - 48609-17020. Pretty disgusted, these used to be around £60 inc VAT.

Anyone else had this or am I being scammed by this dealer - Star City, Birmingham.

That sounds about right for the retail price.

The garage I use has offered to get one trade price for me which I guess is the best offer I'll get.

Really grates me that the MK2 mounts are all over ebay for £60 but the MK1 mounts are twice the price. Money grabbing bu99ers!

Rant over....unless someone wants to start me off again.

I put the car in for a wheel alignment because the steering was off centre and they found play in one of the top mounts, also a knackered lower ball joint.

I think they've ordered one for me now so thanks for the offer anyway; would prefer to put new stuff on though. Lucky I already had one mount I picked up cheap off Ebay years ago when they weren't that expensive so I'm doing the pair.

Just checked on my system and that price seems right to me! It must of been a while a go when they were £60?

It's possible they've changed supplier or they are superor to previous ones.

Have never had the need to try it :

But think it would be an easy job to change the ball bearing in a top mount for a brand spanking new one :-k

If so then why buy a complete mount :?

Because the rubber in the mount also degrades over time
