Tyre Loading MR2 Turbo

Post by vanman1936 »

Hi

I have 17 inch wheels with 215/45 rear and 205/40 front - what are the minimum tyre loadings and do these change if I move up a tyre size or are they weight loading consistent across tyre sizes?

Cheers

Your tyre setup is all wrong, get the correct width on the rear before worrying about load

Agreed.
You want a 225 minimum or 235 (I find a 20 mm f/r stagger the most neutral but if you don't like oversteer go for the 30mm difference) on the rear... probably in a 40 profile to match fronts but I've not done the calculation for rolling radius myself on 17s (but no reason for a larger profile on the rear I can think of). Worry about correct fitment, speed rating and getting a quality rubber on before concerning yourself with loading. Loads of threads about the 'best' 17" tyres but it's all personal preference. Just pick a decent quality brand and have them fitted by people who can properly balance a wheel and tyre. :thumleft:

R.

PS. You haven't said but what width and offset are your wheels front and rear?
