What a complete numpty.
Stupidly I filled my car with BT Ultimate Deisel on saturday and had to have the entire tank emptied and pipes cleaned and new sparks etc

Now however, in 2nd gear upwards above 3000 revs the car seems to judder slightly and its as though there is a parachute at the back of the car and I'm pulling against it.
Loses an emense amount of power above that.

I'm hoping it just needs driving for a bit to clean the cr*p out.

Can anyone give me some confort and tell me I haven't just destoryed my car!
I've only had it a week.

I think I can safely say I will never do it again.

Help!!!!!

Sounds like the injectors need pulling out and cleaning professionally !

Have youa turbo engine or normally aspirated GTi-16/G-Ltd ??? There more labour involved pulling the ones out of the GTi model than the turbo. Either way, looking at £15 each injector cleaned and what ever labour on top to clear it out.

You maybe able to get away with just letting the car idle for some time to allow the fuel to break down the diesel in the lines / injectors.

Your fortunate, most efi cars dont' run after they've had diesel filled in them.

It's a turbo.

it's a 1990 GT Turbo.

I'm hoping that it should clear up once I drive it for a week or two, to get all the cr*p out.

Auto Express reported that a lot of people had done this and that BP were willing to look at specific cases and offer compensation due to the pump markings being confusing... worth a try?

I put petrol in my diesel shogun once! i realised after a few quids worth then filled the rest of the tank with diesel and drove all the way to alton towers and back! It chucked out loads of smoke for a mile or so then it was fine! actually ran better afterwards!

Cheers!

thats what you do to diesels if you cant pass mot on emmissions,

a couple of litres of unleaded in a tank of diesel and it will fly through the test!!

yep i read that somwhere aswell. BP have started to pay for work carried out to cars because their Diesel nozzels where/are green (rather than the industry standard black/blue). definatley worth a try... search on BBC.co.uk- im pretty sure there were some contact details etc!

finally..... u numpty! i thought i was bad- done it twice but to diesels so you can drive away after!!!

Sounds like the car wasn't converted properly when it came into the country. There should be a restrictor in the filler neck to stop you putting Leaded or diesel fuel in by mistake. Diesel nozzles are biggest, then Leaded or LRP and unleaded is the smallest.

Its a 1990 car and therefore would of only required an MOT test, a fuel neck restrictor was only required for the SVA tests.
