YOU'VE HAD A MK1 FOR A FEW YEARS, SO YOU TELL US HOW LOW YOU CAN GET IT. WE DON'T KNOW.
IF YOU'RE ASKING HOW MUCH WE PAY THEN I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF IT RANGED FROM £150 TO SEVERAL THOUSAND, DEPENDING ON PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES. NOBODYS SITUATION WILL BE THE SAME AS YOURS UNLESS THEY ARE THE SAME AGE WITH THE SAME JOB, WITH THE SAME DRIVING HISTORY, LIVING AT THE SAME POSTCODE ETC ETC.
BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS RING AROUND FOR LOTS OF QUOTES

PS - SORRY ABOUT THE BIG LETTERS, BUT YOU STARTED IT

Please do not use capitals.

I'm 28 and have been quoted £163 with flux direct with no no claims bonus and 3 points and I too live on the east coast.

I'll be doing 2000 miles a year with a heavily modified car.

So if I can get it for that, surely you can get it lower!

I won't be using Flux though as I hate them.

Have recently received my renewal £100 with 3K limit

That's with Houghtons

As Michael said everyone's circs. are different

Am preparing a list of mods to send to them

Will be interesting to see if the quote changes :-k

Upper case is classed as SHOUTING on here [-X

I'm paying £220 with Aviva for 5k miles a year, fully comp.

You should be able to get it lower than that with you being older.

Just had my renewal through today, Mk1 MR2 87 T-bar no mods except Momo wheel. The policy is one of those designed if you drive it as a 2nd car. Fully comp plus track day cover included no no claims type classic policy with Heritage/Norton insurance - £135.50.
Limited mileage 3000/year.

Clean license and Berkshire area, but I am ancient and over 50 now!

Just to burst everybody's bubble and leave some chins on the floor. I pay £1000. Mods declared with IIRC 8k limit. No points. somehow.

That's quite pricey for mods that don't really do much.

How many years NCB do you have? (sorry for all the questions!)

Ah right, that explains that. I'm 26 with 7 years NCB so got a good deal on mine.

Curious about yours as I eventually plan to mod mine a bit.

This is what I declared when I got my quote:

Wider Wheels
Wider Tyres
Exhaust System Changes
Misc engine alterations (as camshaft & metal HG wasn’t listed)
Updated Brakes
Braided Brake Hoses
Suspension Changes
Air Filter

Maybe it's my 2000 miles a year that's made mine so low?

Remember that's with NO NCB...and 3 points ;)

That's far the highest premium I've ever heard of for a Mk1 Alex

Quotes from other insurers were even higher presumably ?

Must be something to do with your extreme youthfulness & lack of NCD

Things will get better for you :thumleft:

Postcode has a huge effect. Eg, live in Manchester, pay £1000, live in Truro and for the same risk (bar postcode) pay £300.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Oh yesterday on Compare the Meerkat I was quoted £169 by Flux Direct and £2303 by Acorn, which I then received a phone call from 20mins later and 1min later the phone was put down.

It was a toss between flux and admiral, admiral were i think £930 but were not keen on the mods, flux was like £980 and were fine with the mods and flux gave the 3rd party on other cars bolt-on for me which admiral did not. This is useful for when we go Buxton as ill drive the estate laden with gazebo and spare wheels and my mate will drive the skid car up.

Biggest struggle was last year when i first bought it, i rang flux and the girl on the phone laughed and said we cant quote you for under £3k. 5 Mins with Luke at Sky and he had me sorted for £1200 which i was quite happy about to be honest.

What confused me though is that i can insure the 200sx cheaper than the mr2, Not sure about my postcode tbh Ollie, not sure if its a good one but my area out in the middle of nowhere lots of nice houses etc. I would be interested to know TF9 4PA.

Medium risk mate, nice area but thieves, vandals and fraudulent claimers travel around!

Higher risk now the entire internet know there's a Mk1 and a 200SX parked there ;)
