Shims

Post by SuperRedMR2 »

I have to replace 1 shim from exhaust no7 to get my clearance back within tolerance for my new camshafts.

Are there any part numbers for the shims?

I could measure the others and swap them around, but I can't be ar$ed in all honesty so buying one is the simplest option.

I have a micrometer and that's all I need.

And that wasn't the answer to my question.

I cannot stand it when I ask a question and a reply is given which completely does not answer the question.

Part numbers can be found on www.toyodiy.com along with the thicknesses. No idea if they are still 'in date'.

I ordered them twice (NA and SC) from mr T and both times the guy acted like they were the rarest thing on the planet, extremely hard to order and he had to consult some ancient guru in a long forgotten dealership for the numbers.

Nevertheless you can find them here

You don't need part numbers & you don't need to buy any shims Alex

All you need is the calculator & access to the shim bank

To be honest, it's quicker buying a shim than contacting John - i'll have it by Friday...

It was a bit odd that 15 shims were in tolerance, but the shim on exhaust no7 was 0.05 over - i did see if i could swap them around but no chance.
