Front Fog Lights Not Working

Post by Retro_Boy_G »

Hey guys,

I'm having an issue with my front fog lights. Although the switch works in the car and displays on the dash that they are on they just don't seem to work. I've changed the relay over but this hasn't sorted it.

Does anyone have any other suggestions to what it might be?

Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry to state the obvious but I assume both bulbs are working?

If that's the case it could well be the switch or connector. Having jut taken mine apart to replace the bulbs I can assure you they are quite basic.

Failing that I would do some continuity testing on the wiring to ensure its working.

You know something, I haven't actually checked the bulbs. I guess I thought that would have been too obvious haha.. I would have assumed that it would be weird that both bulbs were dud also. I will give them a check though and thank you for your help :)

AFAIK the bulb in the combination meter works off the same fuse as the fog lights themselves. Thus I'd been looking at two dud bulbs, personally.

Clearly step 1 is to check the fuse though.

The fuse and relay have both been replaced which unfortunately didn't solve the problem.

I went out to look at removing the fogs but the screws are rotten. I've got a few other things to be doing with the car first, one of is replacing the front bumper. When this is done I'll look more into it. It was just on the off chance I had missed a hidden fuse box somewhere that may have sorted it.

Thanks for the help anyway, hopefully it's just the bulbs needing replaced!

Well, this is the wiring diagram (or at least that for a US car, which should be pretty close): http://shinny.co.uk/toyota/MR2_SW_1993_ ... glitus.pdf
