Simon Hick's Brighton Speed Trials MR2

Post by Peter Gidden »

With great reluctance, Simon is having to sell his MR2.

Many people will know this car well. Although fully street legal, and perfectly well behaved in slow moving traffic, Simon has driven this car to back-to-back Brighton National Speed Trials Class wins. In 2011 he broke the Brighton National Speed Trials Class class record - a record that he still holds.

Youtube video of class-winning run here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuBIe40JZQA

This car was built with no expense spared. All parts fitted are top branded makes, with cost being a low priority.

Power is en excess of 550bhp, and torque is 530ftlbs. These are genuine figures and the car will not be detuned prior to handover!

Cant believe Si is selling... this car is an absolute belter. Was speaking to Si a month or two a go as he was helping me out with my management system queries. He gave me some top knotch info from his own experiences and even mentioned his plans for this summer... :( gutted to see this.

Cracking car and to be fair worth every penny if not more. :)

It wasn't a decision i made lightly. In fact it was months of very careful consideration before I finally decided..

Thanks for your kind words George. To be fair I've had a long 6 or so years in the MR2 scene and achieved more then I could of hoped for.
It's the right time to move on for me personally.

£7.5k is just too cheap for this car, just spend 10 minutes pricing up all the parts, and then factor in the development time and labour

Won't be for sale long, should be >£10k and still a huge bargain :-$

I wonder how it would drive as a road car / weekend car...? :-k

Probably a waste of all that work/power if it doesnt see track action...

Have there been any other chassis mods done which aren't listed? Trying to work out if this might also be suited to a track as well as going in a straight line damn quickly.
