Just tried the wipers which haven't been used for about 8 months - they took about 5 seconds to get from one side of the screen to the other..
The windscreen is clean and I had new wiper blades not long ago. Could it be the battery - which is nearly dead?
Do I need a new wiper motor?

Yeah, it's probably the battery. I'd imagine that if the voltage has dropped to below 12V the wipers will work rather tardily..

+ 1 It is highly likely that the new blades are creating drag and worsening the situation.mmk wrote:Yeah, it's probably the battery. I'd imagine that if the voltage has dropped to below 12V the wipers will work rather tardily..
If you can't get the battery tested then get someone to put some jump leads on your battery and try it then.
Or look at the ammeter on the dashboard and see what that says

Was this with the engine running or not?
