Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
So found this sticker under the engine lid. Obviously looks worse for wear and it made me think, we're the rev 1 turbo imports born with this sticker to advise of the next/1st cambelt replacement, I'm thinking no as it would be in Japanese?
So would these stickers be stuck only when a cambelt has been replaced?
I know there's a simple rule that if in doubt get it done but this sticker does look very old [/u]
60k miles or every 6yrs whichever comes first is the recommended replacement intervals. Some folks get more but I tend to think with my luck it would snap miles from anywhere, in the dark and peeing down with rain. Peter as Sbits has changed mine, twice! I've never owned a car long enough for two cambelt changes lol.
Had mine done by Toyota last week (cost no more than a couple of other garages i got a quote from). They stuck a sticker on the cambelt cover saying mileage and date changed.
Last was done at 65k now at 97k but 6 years later.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did Toyota charge you?
Maybe I should go ahead an do it anyway, 96k on the clock, wether its been done previously or not better safe than sorry.
After researching, it doesn't seem too much of a bad job
It's not a hard job to do yourself, just a case of removing the intercooler to give you more room and dropping that side of the engine to get to the crank pulley. Took me about 7 hours in total

Hi Rich,
Thats was for the genuine Cambelt and Tensioner, good question re the Water Pump should have had that done at the same time i guess, i forgot and they didnt remind me Time wise i had a 'B' Service as well and took them about 5 hours.
I've used Toyota for a couple of things recently as their prices aren't normally too different from elsewhere (well not local) and you get a no quibble warranty, they have also been really good fitting a few non OE parts for me that i have had delivered to them and charging a fair price to do it as well.
Rob
Cheers for that Rob, just interested in what Toyota charges for stuff. Mines not due for 3 years and the only person that I trust with my 2 is Peter and myself
