coolant temp in-line sensor - where would you put it?

Post by coanda »

I'm going to be fitting some aftermarket gauges and one of them is a water temp gauge. The sensor screws in to an in-line housing that needs to be placed in the coolant system.

Where would be best to put it?

I've been thinking after the thermostat on the way to the radiator?

Cheers,

Will it screw into the original temp sender point? :-k

If you put post thermostat it won't give you a proper temp reading until the stat opens.

you have to put is as close to the water outlet as possible to get the most accurate reading, ideally before the thermostat.

I don't know the 4AGE engines by heart (yet), but if the bypass is externally available, and not blocked when the thermostat is open, you could use that

Ok, thanks guys,

I'll check out the plumbing around the thermostat.

The bypass line is closed when the thermostat is open. The heater supply is before the thermostat, maybe you could use that.
