Post by TRINDA1664 »

Hi

Has anyone had problems with fitting HSD coilovers?

I have just brought some and the bottom brackets on th rear coilovers seem not to fit?

Thanks

Mine were tight on the back due to a surface rust buildup where the two bolts go, just cleaned the whole area up and they fitted,

These are about 2mm out :( i even filed the back if the hub flat and its still way out.

I will speak to driftworks in the morning and hopefully they will send me just replacement rears that it.

Hey buddy, must be in the same boat! i bought my HSD coilovers a few days ago and just fitted the last one but didn't get round to finishing it off as it got dark! Fitment in both the rear brackets is very tight, we spent over 2 hours trying to wriggle and get the fitment to work. In the end we got it to fit, we placed both the 19mm bolts in at the same time and slightly tapped the bracket with a hammer and it eventually lined up. Good luck

The worrying thing is they are not even close.

Fitment is extremely tight in the rear. I've had the same issue. I used an air gun to spin the bolt into the hole. It got there eventually. Not something i want to have to do again in a hurry.

Which coilovers did you go for? MonoPro or the DualTech?

Ive gone for the dualtech coilovers, i will give it another go tonight but i may machine the holes out by 1 or 2mm just to help me out.

It could be worth a shot, or just get a rounded file in there.

I'd try to avoid enlarging the holes - may mess with the camber? Not sure, but just in case :P

Blimey, I saw this topic title and thought it was mine! About 3 or 4 years ago I was in a GB for some of these. And I had the exact same problem. After much discussion with Driftworks (who the GB was organised through) they eventually got some new, amended brackets for me. Took months to get resolved, but yes, there is an issue with possibly only Rev1's (which mine is).

There's no need, you can get some proper brackets like I did. Get in touch with them. I wouldn't be drilling anything out.

What do you mean proper brackets? How are they different to what they send you orginally?

The brackets that are welded onto the strut collars. They are different. The swapped over the entire bracket for me once I gave them the correct dimensions.

I have done a deal and I am going to try some MonoPro coilovers.

As these are more expensive, fingers crossed they fit.
