[Mk2] [Turbo] tein superstreet vs HSD coilovers?

Post by ponchcore »

Hi all,

I am currently running tein superstreets on my mr2, which were on it when I brought it. I have never really liked them to be honest, I think they are way to harsh for British roads, and adjusting the dampening just makes them super bouncy instead of spine breaking.

I was looking into HSD coilovers, and have read good reviews of them on here, and other sites. Everyone seemed to say they are ideal for people that use their cars as daily drives, and do the occasional track day (which is what I do)

Would I be right in thinking that the reason for this is they have a lower spring rate than the teins? and that I could actually solve my problem with different springs for the teins? which in turn would save money? Or should i just buy some HSD's and never look back?

If you want softer id go for Meister's, HSD's are very firm

I'd personally not bother with any of the cheap adjustable coilovers available and would instead buy a good quality set of dampers and springs. For fast road use black Bilsteins and Eibach springs are hard to beat in terms of performance, quality, ride and value for money.

Hi, I've got the HSD dual techs, and they are 8kg/mm rear, and 5kg/mm front. Ride comfort is totally subjective but I live in London and have to navigate speed bumps and lots of broken road surface and I cant really fault them. IMO definately not too firm for everyday road use. (Mines an NA if it makes a difference)
