Overheating???

Post by A.BLAKE »

First let me say YES THIS IS THE WRONG FORUM...But help me out guys... Just bought an is200 as a "reliable" run around while my 2s off the road.. Any way started to overheat on the way home from buying it... #-o

Not losing any coolant... went back down soon as i put the heater on.. stayed there for the next 100 or so miles.. just checked coolant is full..

The car has got a 100,000 on the clock with lex history.. Guy i bought it from says he hasnt driven it in 3 months since he bought his new lex...

Any ideas?? Air lock?? Thermostat?

For sure you will feel better with a new thermostat and fresh coolant before the winter ahead, suppose stat could stick then free itself.

Mr Blake, the first thing you want to do is roll past an MoT station. Have the coolant sniffer tested for hydrocarbons using the exhaust anaylser. Find out if it's hg before doing anything!
