Warning lights on constantly

Post by Gaz »

Hello all,

I'm very much a "drive it until it breaks" kind of person, and this hasn't broken yet, so I've just been ignoring it. However I would like to get it sorted before something blows up.

I bought my rev2 turbo about 5 months ago, and since I bought it the engine management light comes on once you go over about 2k RPM. Like I said, the car runs fine, has ran fine, and hasn't given any trouble.

Then about 3 months ago, the light above that started coming on all the time, the red ! in a circle. After research I found out this was a brake fluid warning light, brake fluid is fine though. (and again, the car doesn't drive any differently/worse) Tried an ECU reset too and they still keep coming on.

Anyone any idea what they mean and how to get rid of them? Preferably without bringing it to a mechanic. I'm fairly proficient, and like doing things myself!

Thanks!
Nic

Do a diagnostic check and see if there are any stored error codes on the ECU, see here:

Brake fluid warning is a bit picky, I used to have to fill mine past the 'full' mark to stop it coming on in certain situations (hard cornering + braking).

It's linked to the handbrake switch as well though which is just a spade connector behind the handbrake lever so it's possible that may have come off?
