[Mk2] [NA] Strange whistling noise under hard acceleration

Hi

My rev5 NA has suffered from a strange whistling noise ever since I've owned it. Under hard acceleration, from about 4k rpm onwards, there is a noise that I can only describe as sounding like a referee's whistle! Also, the engine is completely stock :thumleft:

Does anyone have any ideas?

ps I haven't actually checked, but I'm fairly sure there isn't a referee's whistle in my exhaust :D :whistle: \:D/

does it make the noise when revving stationary or only when the car is moving?

I'll check and report back, but I'm pretty sure it's only under load.

Nope, definitely only whistles under load :thumleft:

OK, bit of an update... Ripped out the OEM air boxes and replaced them with a K&N cone. :thumleft: :thumleft:

The result is, I can't hear the whistling anymore! Not entirely sure it's gone... I just can't hear it :whistle: :whistle:

as its only after 4krpm you are hering it id suggest it may be one of the vac lines to do with the acis. or the actuator for the acis... just a thought

I've got 6m of Samco vac hose so I'll swap them all and see what happens :thumleft:

+1 replace all hoses. Not that hard to do and cheap. Hint: Getting under the car from the rear will help you connect up the fiddly ones :)

Yeah, cheers. Got loads of Samco hose, just haven't got round to doing it yet.

Well, as you may have noticed, I don't do anything quickly... :lol: :oops:

I finally sorted the whistling yesterday :thumleft:

Swapped the exhaust and no more whistle :clap:
