Lock locking wheel nut

Post by Seanie »

Hi there all
I lost my locking wheel nut at pacific works when I got my car serviced.
Is there a way to get a replacement?
It was a long thing maybe three inches long.

Let's see a pic of wheel nut in place.

Most garages will have special tools to get locking wheel nuts off. They don't always work, but usually do sepending on style of nut and wheel.

Happned to me . If there hex type a local tyre shop will charge you about fiver a wheel. They will simpley hammer a size smaller on to get them off. Probly make you sign a damage disclaimer. Circle ones will be much harder and spinning head bolts nearly imposiable i think

is it the Toyota one or an aftermarket one ?
I had toyota sell me a new standard one, the problem is there is about 50 different types of the key so you have to go to a dealer and have them try and find yours.

You apcan always do what I've done in the past and weld an old socket onto it and the simply crack it off with a torque wrench

Simple, fun, and you get to play with a welder :thumleft:

If its a spinny one you can do what i done and chizel the outer spinning edge off and either hammer a smaller socket on or use a special wheel not removal socket :)
