Battery recommendations

Post by Marlowe »

I'll keep this one short and sweet as I'm unsure there'll be any real answer, but my sickly MR2's died a death - battery is only reading 1.3v despite being charged 3 days ago to counter faltering alternator.

Has anyone got any recommendations re batteries? Particular brands? Lead / calcium?

Cheers. :)

Go to Toyota, tell them you're a club member and ask for a discount.

Seriously, I got an MR2 battery from them for under £40 once.

Failing that, find someone with a trade account with euro car parts and get one from there.

I used euro car parts, free delivery and try the discount code GGTIUK25

This should give you a sneaky 25% on most things....

I went for the Bosch and its a perfect fit and £50 delivered.

I've got a smaller battery from a Fiesta in mine. Hoping it doesn't implode.

Previous owner of mine had a corsa battery fitted and if it stood for a week it was dead. Now have a new one I bought for the Accord, Bosch, bit taller and thinner but fits ok with battery clamp and loads better, was only £47 delivered too...

Thankfully I use mine each day so shouldn't be a problem for now. I bought the car about 300 miles from my flat, and the battery it came with was completely shot. Was too late to buy one, so my only option was to steal the battery out of my Fiesta I was selling, which was luckily sitting on my parents drive (near where I bought the car).

Had to improvise with a block of wood to get the clamp to fit though.

My MR2 needed a new battery last year, I shopped around for ages and amazingly the Toyota Dealer was the cheapest I could find, and if its good enough for Toyota's quality control then its good enough for mine!
