Front ball joint: £20 plus 30 minutes. = £40.00
Rear wheel bearing: £60 plus 2 hours. = £140.00
Adjust handbrake: 30 minutes max. = £20.00

£200.00 all in.

Bent MOT on emissions = priceless

Sounds average to me. £50 for parts, 3.5 hours @ 50 per hour to do the work and find out why its failed emissions, + vat.

If 1st registered before 31/8/95, then a decat will not cause it to fail. No cat test required.

Mine failed on emissions but they let it through. I've since had a thorough service changed everything to try to get it below the emissions. Hoping next year my car will pass.. :thumleft:

fit the parts other than the wheel bearing yourself to save on hours in the garage, always fit parts yourself where possible, if you don't have the tool to do the job then that is the only time you should pay a garage to do it :thumleft:

It won't. So needs refitting for the test. Or fit a high-flow cat.

I find the cost of labour often covers the cost of the tool anyway, then you will be equipped for next time

Your car passed a cat test with no cat????

I'd like to have seen that in person.

some stations seem to put that it has a decat pipe on before doing the test and I have had many cars pass with a decat fitted
