What major work has it had done since you bought this? Any reciepts for parts? Any bad points or issues at all with the car? Cambelt changed since you had it? Any advisories on last M.O.T? Is there any service history from previous owners?

It was HPI'd when we bought it... as it was already in a garages possesion , taken as a PX.

Since we bought it, we have had the front bumper, both side skirts and a couple of rust spots prepped and sprayed as it let the car down paintwise.

centre caps to the alloys are missing. On the MOT the only advisory was coolant leak, but we cannot find anything significant leak wise anywhere the leak was that minimal.

The car came from a garage where it had been taken as a PX and any history it had was lost sadly by them. Drive is very smooth and I can only say it seems ok power wise, but I have only driven the Turbo before this , so to me it would seem lacking obviously.

Interior is all good, no rips in the seats. No leaks on the T Bars.

As pointed out, just have to sort the front bumper on a plate holder and put MR2 badge back on the rear centre panel.

First thing is more than a little surprised, and will be looking into how the garage took it in as a px and showed us a HPI report showing none of the above.
Had we been aware of those facts i think considering the condition of the car we would still have bought it, but declared it in the ad (which I will do now)

As your no doubt aware CAT D is usually based on the fact the insurance companies don't want to repair it.

I will talk to my brother and now suspect the car will not be sold and converted to a Turbo instead, which was his original plan.

would explain the price, Cat c or d write off means its worth practically half normal value , I bought a rev 3 for 2700 and then found it was a cat c, had to sell it for 700 quid.. with no details of history, no matter what the quality of repair its only worth anything to the current owner

Well, as I said we will look into what the garage showed us and take things from there basically.

Regards worth, in my experience, worth is basically what an idividual feels happy to pay
