Cupra curns Rev 2 NA - Swindon

Post by iain2010 »

Hi Guys Thought Id start off a project thread as all going well there will hopefully be a lot going on with this soon.

Car is a Rev 2 non turbo. Bought it on ebay 4 or so months ago.

I decided to buy this one based on its bodywork condition.

This was it when I picked it up:

The spec was pretty much standard. Only mods where some 16" Advan wheels and a stupidly loud Japspeed exhaust.

I liked the wheels but the widths and offsets were wrong so these were first to go.

I bought a set of 17" Ultralite Monoblocks in 8" wide with ET35. These are a perfect fit on the front but at some stage will need spacing out 10 - 15mm at the back.

I then changed the exhaust. It was just too loud. I had a 450BHP TT supra with a Jap system previously and it wasn't even this bad!

So next ordered was a Mongoose decat system. Id almost call it perfect for the sound. Loud but not overpowering. I then added a Jap shop induction kit which sounds good.

Got all this sorted and realised the clutch was slipping & the sump was leaking. So then ordered & fit a new clutch; lightened flywheel; and cam belt kit . Also got the sump resealed.

While in the garage I had some Tein springs aswell.

Next on the list is a break overhaul inc new cable.

Currently collecting parts for bodywork refresh. Currently have C One side skirts. Will also get a Rev 6 front bumper; rear spats and a turbo engine lid.

Im currently looking for some split rims so depending on the widths a wide arch kit will be on the list as well.

Enough of my waffling here she is at the moment:

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Looking into some image 3 piece rims at the moment. Problem is there is so much choice. I like the idea of the perfect size and offset for the car.

Ah, that's a shame 'cos the current ones do look nice. I'm looking into getting my own wheels put into that deep gunmetal colour, really like it :thumleft:

Car is booked in to get my spat; side skirts and aeroware spoiler sprayed and fitted tomorrow.

May be a problem with the spoiler as after closer inspection it has a crack. Will have to see if the bodyshop can do anything with it.

If it's just FRP then 'just a crack' usually isn't an issue at all :D

Saw you driving through Bassett high street yesterday evening. I was on foot so you wouldn't have spotted me. Got to say that your alloys are excellent. Really suit the car.

Thanks mate. They do get a lot of good comments. If I could get them in 9" wide for the rear I would be keeping them.

Its been a while.

Fit the seats, Car has been off the road for four weeks as the alternator has gone. Being changed Thursday so looking forward to getting her back on the road.

Bought a head from Matt on here with the 270 Piper cams so may look at building a fast 3SGE. Unsure yet not sure what to do at the mo.

Have found the new wheels so mine will be up for sale in a while.

Once the cars fixed ill put some new pics up

lol I have mate but to be honest I went for the NA as it looks good but not that expensive to run etc. Im guessing a new head with the cams fit will be a lot cheaper than getting the 3SGTE fit! 8)

Looking great mate.

It's nice to see such a clean 2 :D Oh and I love your seats!

Any future mod plans?

Your daily runner is lovely as well - I was tempted by one but needed an estate, so got an Octavia instead :thumleft:
