Coolant leak testing with normal water

Post by nutter »

Hi,

I'd like to test my coolant system for leaks before i put my new toyota stuff in. Would it be ok to fill the system with water and run it for about 10-15mins to check for leaks? I could then flush the water out and but the good stuff in?

thanks

trickster arent you runninng a risk or corroding things that way??? Anti-freeze/coolant has a lot of corrosion resisting chemicals in it that are pretty important!

And nutter yes its a good idea anyway to fill up with water and let it run then flush it out - will help to get rid of any grime thats built up in there

Yeh your right, just the last few months ive had it apart and together more times than anything, starts to get costly on coolant! once its all sorted ill flush it and put some in.
