[Mk2] [NA] Immobiliser/ key transponder bypass

Post by Lee8ballauto »

Right long story short I bought an engine and ecu etc to transplant my blown rev1 n/a to a rev3 n/a, when I bought the engine I was told it was from a 94 car but it has an egr valve and a 4-1 manifold which seems to put the engine at 96-97 now the 96-97 cars have a transponder to pick up a chip in the key to de immobilise it I don't have the transponder the key or anything similar to that and my car being rev1 doesn't have it so how do I get round it can it be bypassed somehow just so I can get my car running? Obv reply via pm if you know how to do it.
Thanks

You will need the immobiliser ecu box, and key reader at a minimum. I managed to wire a car using just them, and not the key. Ideally you need the key also.

Without them, I think you are screwed. I tried a few ecu placed to see if they could remove the immobiliser side to no avail.

How do I wire it into the rev1 loom though? And where is the transponder box?

You need the Rev 4 engine loom, the immobiliser box is behind the drivers seat in the a post iirc. Rev 4 are 4 plug, rev 1 3 plug ecu so cannot fit the ecu to an early loom.

You can run the later engine on the rev 1 loom and ecu, but they tend to run crap.

I have the rev4 engine loom fusebox ecu and the loom that runs to pass footwell but none of that would go to drivers side:s

You don't need the loom as you can wire it at the ecu instead. But you need the immobiliser ecu, and reader from the ignition barrel of the rev 4. The car I wired in ran without the key. Might of been a faulty immobiliser ecu though so cannot guarantee it will run without the key.

Basically, you wire the immob ecu, key reader etc at the ecu. And tape the key to it if required.
