Insurence renew time = big increase, any pointers?

Post by mattgt »

Hi all,

That time of the year again.

Paid £300 last year fully comp for my Rev3 turbo with Adrian Flux, this year they want £430! I did 400 miles last year so that will work out at £1 per mile!!!!

Rang Sky this morning and they wanted alot more and said the AF quote was proberly the best i will get.

Anyone else i should try?

For the record:

Im 26
full NCD since i was 17
Will do less than 1500 per year
No points, claims etc
Minor mods
Cat 1 alarm/imob
Locked in garage over night
Good area.

Any pointers or recommmends would be great.

Yep mileage was limited to 1500, also had euro breakdown and my partner was on there too for £308.

Will try Classicline later, thanks

My policy is 6000 miles with all mods declared and uk breakdown cover, so you should be able to get it a bit cheaper if you're covering that few miles.

Classic Line/heritage may be a good bet if it's a second car. IMO flux undersold that policy to you last year and even this year it's very cheap.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

No idea i'm afraid, you could try googling for other classic car insurers. Classicline is the only one i tried, glad they got you a good price.

classicline are amazing. Not like all the other robbers out there.
Just over 200 for me and that includes euro breakdown.
I doubt very much you'll find cheaper.

Think I will go with Classicline then Harold/Baker, rang a few others and none came close, thanks again for the heads up. :thumleft:

Oh and if anyone fancy's a giggle ring Carol Nash, just got off the phone to them as they are "specialists in modern classics"

With an £800 excess the premium was.... wait for it.... £2300 !!! The girl on the phone did tell me however i got free legal protection!

Classicline is then.

I find Admiral to be quite good. If you have multicars then get them on a multicar policy too.

Performance Direct was who I renewed with, think there was one cheaper but it was like £10 and wasnt worth the effort of swapping things round so I just stayed with Performance Direct and overall I've been very happy with my last 2 years insurance with them.

If paying £430 a year for fully comp tubby insurance is a problem, I think you may need to give this hobby up and get a Micra..

:?

The point of this thread was to ask fellow members who they use to see if i could save anything and as it goes I have, over £150 so far. Never had a problem with paying the £430 but with premiums up around 40% this year i thought it was worth asking for some friendly advice. :clown:
