Oil filter & intercooler fan querries

Ok guys a couple of queries for you all.

I changed my oil + filter & fuel filter today the first time since I have owned it. Now the oil filter that came off was for a NA not for a turbo, would this have caused any problems.
Secondly I used an engine flush & whilst I was running it in I noticed that the intercooler fan didn’t come on not even at temperature.
This got me thinking that I have never noticed this fan running at all, ever.
I remember hearing about disconnecting the temp sensor & it should run constantly. How can I check the fan is working properly?

Also when you are putting the fuel pipe back onto the fuel filter make sure you are not directly underneath as even small drops of Optimax hurts when it gets into the eyes.

if you disconnect the fan connector on the engine lid the fan will (should) come on. I've left mine that for the last few months

The NA filter is the shorter one i believe (the same filter fits the 4AGE too)

Using the 'na' one won't have done your engine any harm tbh.

Disconnecting the temp sensor should get the fan running constantly. As you know i don't have a MK2 but IIRC isn't the temp sensor on the underside of the engine lid?
