From your local Toyota dealer

Will cost an arm and a leg

You could get a perfectly serviceable one from a breaker

Are you sure its not leaking from a gasket ?

Or could be one of the heat shields have some loose, where they are bolted to the manifold often rust away.

I havent had a chance yet to take the heat shield off to see exactly what the issue is but its been a bit blowy for a while and as of last night / this morning it sounds like the manifold isnt even attached anymore

I figure one from a breakers wont have that much life on it now? Not exactly new cars are they......then again I dont fancy MrT prices :( isnt there any sort of reliable aftermarket option?

99% of OEM manifolds last the life of the engine

However, I have read that very occasionally 4A-GE exhaust manifolds do crack

the manifolds don't really deteriorate on teh cars, as they are kept pretty dry and clean etc.
the usual prob is that the gaskets give way between the manifild and down pipe. rarely the gasket between the manifold and block.
also as mentioned, they sometimes crack, but rare. its usual for the heatshields to rust and rattle.
a second hand manifold should be in okay condition, so i really would not buy new. you could go thru a few second hand ones for the price!

Excellent, I will be in touch if mine is knackered.

Thanks for the feedback everybody, I will take mine apart and try to find where exactly its blowing from. I have a Janspeed fitted and the volume has doubled so its definitely not a loose heat shield

Check the connection between the downpipe and manifold - my nuts often work themselves loose and lose the nuts and studs which can cause most noise.
