[Mk2] [Generic] Strange Whine

I just fitted a new Phillips head unit in my Rev2 FE, which has the active system with twin subs. Plugged it all in and tested it then put the dash back together started the engine and there is a low pitched whine from the passenger side .
Eventually found if you switch the heater fan on it stops so pulled the stereo back out and moved the wires (and active adaptor) to the right hand side (tucked it down) and it stopped the noise.
