[Mk2] [NA] Auto to manual conversion?

Post by _john_ »

I've seen a nice MR2 for sale, but it's an automatic.

Is it a costly procedure to change it to a manual? I'm hoping it'd just be a case of doing a straight swap?

Can anyone fill me in on how much a manual box in good condition should cost?

The car is a rev 3.

Cheers!

Too much grief and a lot of work to change over to be honest. I would just buy a manual one to start with.

You would need:

Good manual gearbox (upto £200)
Maybe drive shafts but dont know if they are the same as auto
Clutch - £55
Flywheel - £25 secondhand?
Rear clutch pipework
Slave cylinder
Manual peddles
Gear linkage cable
Front clutch slave cylinder
Engine ecu or moddifing the auto ecu
Clocks

And anything else I have forgotten.

Probably a weekends work with stripping out a lot of interior exterior parts and fingers crossed it will work ok.
We ALL make mistakes !!! :)

it's one nightmare of a job converting from auto to manual, the most difficult part is running the clutch line underneath the car

did mine when I converted from auto to manual V6
