Isn't the image size limits for avatars a little strict??? 12kb?? that is tiny I know it is all about page load times but I don't think loaning a 30kb image would make a lot of difference..

I know but it is a silly rule.
I know it is perfectly fine to have an avatar like that I just feel it is a little extreme. even a 25kb or 30kb would be better..-
